Grade 1 Admissions (2026 intake)

Places available: 180 learners across 5 classes.

Catchment area: Priority to Hebron, Mabopane, Garankuwa and surrounding wards.

Eligibility: child must turn 6 on or before 30 June 2026.

Documents required:

  • Certified copy of child's birth certificate
  • Road-to-Health booklet / immunisation record
  • Previous school or pre-school report (if applicable)
  • Certified copy of parent / guardian South African ID or passport
  • Proof of residential address (utility bill, lease)

Selection: friendly parent conversation + small-group play observation. No formal testing — we believe a 5-year-old should never be made to feel they failed.

Notification: by SMS and post within 14 working days of the interview.

Transfers & Mid-Year Entry

We welcome transfers into Grades 2 to 6, subject to space and a friendly readiness chat.

Open grades for 2026: Grade 2 (a few seats), Grade 4 (waiting list), Grade 5 (open).

Process:

  • Submit enquiry via this site or call the office
  • Provide last two terms of reports + transfer card from previous school
  • Half-day shadow visit so your child can meet the class
  • Joint meeting with class teacher to align on support plan

We'll always be honest if we believe another school is a better fit for your child.

Fees

Lorato Primary is a registered Quintile 3 No-Fee School — there are no compulsory tuition fees for any learner.

Voluntary contributions toward enrichment programmes are welcomed but never required:

  • Excursion fund (per term, optional): R 80 – R 150
  • Sports kit (one-off, if your child joins a team): R 220
  • Stationery pack (optional, otherwise provided): R 350

No child is ever excluded from any activity for inability to pay. Speak to the office in confidence — we have a quiet support fund for families in need.
